Introduction

ReadAloud+ ("the App") is developed and operated by Educated Wish LLC ("we", "us", or "our"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who processes it on our behalf, and your rights regarding that data.

Information We Collect

Account & Identity

When you create an account, we collect your email address for authentication. We use Supabase for secure authentication and do not store passwords directly.

When you sign in with Apple, you may choose to share your name. If provided, we use it only to personalize the app (for example, displaying your name) and as an account property in our analytics. When you create an account we also generate a unique account identifier (a random ID), which we use to sign you in, manage your subscription access, enforce per-account usage limits, and as your identifier within our analytics. We never sell your name or identifiers, and we don’t use them for advertising.

Subscriptions & Device Identifier

Subscription purchases are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status, including your purchase and subscription history. RevenueCat collects your device’s Identifier for Vendors (IDFV) — an identifier limited to apps from our developer account — to match your subscription across reinstalls and validate purchase receipts. This is not the advertising identifier (IDFA), is never used to track you across other companies’ apps, and we run no advertising SDKs. We do not collect or store your payment information.

Camera, Photos & Documents

The App uses your device camera to scan documents and can import images from your photo library. To recognize and read your documents, images and the extracted text are processed either on-device (Apple Vision and Apple system voices) or, when you are online, sent to secure third-party services for text recognition (Google Gemini) and speech synthesis (LemonFox). We do not store your scanned images or document text on any server. Document data exists only in memory during your session and is discarded when you navigate away. Generated audio is cached locally on your device for performance.

Analytics

We use PostHog, a product-analytics service, to understand how the app is used so we can improve it. PostHog records product-interaction events (such as scanning a document, generating audio, or viewing the subscription screen), app-open/close events, and performance measurements (such as how long a scan or audio generation takes). These events are associated with your account identifier, and your email and name are attached to your analytics profile, so we can analyze and improve the experience. They are never used for advertising or to track you across other apps, and we do not sell this data.

How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate your account and manage your subscription access
• To provide document scanning, text recognition, and text-to-speech
• To enforce per-account usage limits and prevent abuse
• To understand product usage and performance so we can improve the App
• To provide customer support

Data Storage and Security

ReadAloud+ is designed with a privacy-first, ephemeral data model. Scanned documents are not stored persistently—they exist only in memory during your active session. Audio generated from your documents is cached locally on your device for performance and is not transmitted to our servers.

Your account data is stored securely using Supabase with industry-standard encryption. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

Third-Party Services

We share data with the following service providers only to the extent needed to operate the App:

• Apple App Store — subscription payment processing
• RevenueCat — subscription status management; receives your device identifier (IDFV) and purchase history
• Supabase — user authentication and account storage (email, account identifier)
• Google Gemini — AI-powered text recognition (OCR) for document images and text when online
• LemonFox — natural AI text-to-speech voice synthesis when online
• PostHog — product and performance analytics, associated with your account identifier

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review their policies for details on how they handle data.

International Data Transfers

Some of our processors operate in the United States. In particular, our analytics provider, PostHog, hosts data in the United States. If you use the App from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.

Tracking and Advertising

ReadAloud+ does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), we run no advertising SDKs, and we do not serve ads. We do not sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.

Children's Privacy

ReadAloud+ is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your account and associated data (you can delete your account directly in the App)
• Ask us questions about how your data is processed
