- How natural do the AI voices sound?
- ReadAloud+ offers 54 AI voices across 8 languages — English (US & UK), Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Hindi, Japanese, and Mandarin. They’re warm, expressive, and remarkably close to natural human speech. You can preview any voice before choosing, your favorite is saved per language, and you can adjust speed to taste. Apple system voices are used as an offline fallback.
- Is my scanned data private and secure?
- Yes. ReadAloud+ uses an ephemeral data model: your scanned documents exist only in memory during your session. When you navigate away, everything is discarded. We never store your documents. Online OCR and voice synthesis send text to secure APIs (Google Gemini and LemonFox) for processing, but nothing is persisted there. Audio files are cached locally on your device for performance. - What does Smart Text Cleanup do?
- Smart Text Cleanup automatically removes letterheads, addresses, barcodes, and other non-essential text from scanned documents. This gives you a cleaner listening experience focused on the content that matters. You can toggle it on or off in Settings.
